Alive and Working

The new winches are installed and ready for action. Testing was rigorous and thoroughly documented. First, Bob held the "working" end of a line and I winched it...passed with flying colors. Then, I repeated the test with me holding the "working" end and Camille winching it...again top notch results.

We then took one grainy picture to make the event official:

Crewmembers read this blog so I won't tell the story of the "extra" part when the port winch was installed the first time. Needless to say, lesson learned and the subsequent de-install and re-install and the starboard install all went swimmingly.

But extra parts are normal whenever you're installing new gear.... really...the manufacturers even say so... besides, having a little extra practice installing them is a good thing... since you have to disassemble them to install them. Good practice for the annual maintenance next year...

:D

Looking very sweet. I'm jealous of your winches.

Now I have a couple of extra cam cleats that I have to put somewhere. I should know better than to do a makeshift solution.

Girl, good luck finding a Japanese Friend...a truly admirable goal.
