"New years day. Sunny. Highs in the upper 50s to mid 60s. East winds 5 to 15 mph."
It certainly should be starting off nicely. Not sure that I like that east winds bit, I'm not used to having to beat back to the marina but everything else looks good. Should be a promising start to 2008.
But can I sail 100 days next year?

Happy New Year, Edward! Is your New Year's Resolution (Aspiration) to spend "100 (separate) days at Sea"?
Nice superblog. I'm checking it out because Tillerman said you're a weirdo...between that and "super" how could I not?
I like the bits about not jumping out of a becalmed boat. I guess the nightmare is that a breeze does come...that's a fine scary picture!
May you get your 100 days. In 2007 I broke 100 for the first time (lack of work helped)...if anything all that sailing (windsurfing, actually) made me want to sail even more. Good luck to you!
HI - Melissa here. Been reading your blog and have commented a few times. We also sail quite a bit out of Berkeley and often see the same scenes of past weekends show up in your blog pictures. But I hadn't seen you out myself, that is until yesterday. I finally saw the 'Lady Bug' out sailing. You were sailing toward the marina about 11:30 and there were about 8 boats sailing away (it was a BYC cruise), as we sailed past I think you yelled, Happy New Year!). Anyway, that was us - s/v Pura Vida (Hylas 47).
Good to finally cross paths...

Yeah! Camille was so into yelling Happy New Year that I just let pride go by the wayside and joined in. I hope my voice didn't overshadow the cute 7 year old voice that was supposed to be yelling it.
I, too, am taking up the 100 days of sailing challenge! I won't see you out there, exactly, but I will see you out there, symbolically.
Good for you Jarrett. We need a Latin motto for the 100 Day Challenge, and a logo, and a T-shirt. Anybody know anybody who is good at that kind of thing?
100 days is a hell of a challenge, not really suitable for a dead language. Since the Illiad is one of my favorite books of all time, the motto will be in Greek:
εκατο ημερες εμπνευσει δεος. I'm really trusting google translator on this one.
