Velox Ocius Pango: A True Life Story of a Fake Olympic Campaign

With a little more time I have researched my new latin motto "Velox Ocius Pango" and realized it actually means Fast Faster Fasten. That's right fasten, as in to affix. That makes my motto even better.

In the comments on my last post, somebody named "Reid" accused me of parodying Ross Bennett, an actual sailor. I'll admit I'd never read his blog but know of said Ross through Sailing Anarchy and believe me I would never use this blog to parody anybody but myself. The Laser Twins, Litoralis and Tillerman, led me down the mock-a-real-sailor road in the comments section. Blame them.

And, finally, possibly, the last word on this 2012 Laser Olympic Campaign. Joe offended me as part of his continual bashing of the Laser. I get it...he hates the Laser. Not sure why but he does. I can see how he's worried that I'm becoming part of the Greater Laser Conspiracy with my newfound Olympic Campaign (Velox Ocius Pango!) but this time he's crossed the line with this remark:

"You know that the world is lost when a well regarded sailor is seen in this bleeping boat!"

Ummm, since when did I become a "well regarded sailor"? Who regards me? How did that happen? Has Joe forgotten this and this and many other escapades similar to these? Why do I even blog if people aren't seeing the truth in my writing?

Wait. I'm getting confused. All this post-modern irony, satire and parody is getting away from me. Everyone is writing the opposite of what they mean, or maybe the opposite of the opposite of what they mean. What is truth, indeed?

Surely you are not serious in saying that Joe upset you? That must be irony. Just because you are well regarded doesn't mean you are regarded well.

In any case I've long believed that you, Ross and Joe are all the same person.

I was wondering that as well, T-man...but are we all not the same person...hmmmmmmmm

Hey, how did you beat me posting? I was just here and it was the same old post I check back and you already posted on the new one :-(

I'm confused, too. And how could ANYONE hate a Laser? It's like the fundamental.

Please keep up sailracer. This is post-modern irony. Edward/Joe/Ross doesn't really hate the Laser as he says he does on his blog as Joe; but he's not really doing an Olympic campaign either as he says he is on his blog as Edward; and I've no clue what he is saying on the Ross blog except that vinyl decals are cool. It's a Yin/Yan/Yon thing. Three sides of the same coin. Right zen?

What's wrong with the fourth side? It's hard to have much of an opinion about Lasers in our obscure province, because few of them sail locally. A high school Navy ROTC sailing program has some, but they only go out a few times a year and have never participated in local regattas. There is almost no organized dinghy sailing in our immediate area.

Huh? What? Am I banned from the pool?

No Joe. You are not banned. Feel free to start a fake Laser Olympic campaign. All the best people are doing it.
