The Name Game

Camille agrees: Sophica II is an excellent name for a medical condition, a piss-poor one for a boat. So, she is going to set about changing it.

Our first step was to go down to the boat and have her look around and examine the boat:

from every angle, inside and out:

Most importantly, she loved the boat and that helped her with the grief of selling Polka Dot. But she's still in arms over the name. She obviously noticed the boat is blue....but that didn't do much in her naming choices. The second ladybug to be found in the cabin didn't sway her. She went where every self-respecting five year old should go for inspiration: My Little Pony.

First choice: Flutter; Second choice: Lollipop; In the running: Magenta, Ruby, and Rose. Notice how little the color blue influenced her decision. When I threw out Dreadnought she just laughed at me, deriding my lack of boat-naming abilities.

She expects a decision within the week. Stay tuned.

Since the boat is blue, I don't think the Magenta, Rose, or Ruby make much sense. Personally, of the five, I like Flutter the best...

I wish it worked that way....if she wanted to name the boat driftwood I'd have to do it.

Good choice on Flutter though, that's an homage to Fluttershy, one of her favorite ponies.

Dreadnaught ... a legendary name.

I like Lollipop. Of course, then you'd have to look up the words to the song "Good Ship Lollipop."

The North Bay votes for "Impailing Avenger".

Hey Edward,

I've been off the map for some time and I'm just now catching up on the new boat chronicles. Well done!

Obviously your family members will name the boat for you, but if you you do have some small say in the matter, the following boat names were suggested to and summarily rejected by me, when naming my J/22. Feel free to use any of them.

Delusions of Grandeur
Dubious Potential
Drunken Debauchery
Screaming For Vengeance
So Sexy It Hurts
