Wow

A very difficult decision was made by an incredibly talented sailor. A few days ago, Skip Allan scuttled his boat, Wildflower, about 300 miles West of Santa Cruz and climbed aboard a container ship. This was after 3 days of a gale with a forecasted 3 more. This is a man who survived Fastnet 79 and most recently won the SHTP on board the boat that he built 30 years ago.

Skip's Log over at the Singlehanded Sailing Society Forum.

I've only met Skip once but people that I respect respect him and I know this must have been a very hard decision. I'm glad he's OK and plan on reading this log every once in a while as a reminder about caution and safety at sea.
